Payments for Ghana carries the most weight, and it is what keeps Melbet in second place: all three mobile-money networks from GHS 10, e-wallets from GHS 6, plus cards and commission-free crypto. Payout scores 3.7 rather than higher for a specific reason. Our withdrawal request was accepted with no friction, which is a genuine result and more than some casinos manage, but we never documented the money landing, so we do not credit Melbet with a measured payout. An earlier version of this page scored that category 4.7, which was not supported by our own evidence, and we have corrected it. Our hands-on test: what actually happened

We do not rate a casino we have not used ourselves, so before scoring Melbet we opened a real account, funded it with crypto, played, and requested a payout with our own money on a mid-range Android phone over a normal mobile data connection. Registration. Melbet gives you four ways to sign up: by phone, one-click, by email, or through a social network (X, Telegram or Apple ID). We used the email flow and set the country to Ghana and the currency to the cedi (GHS). The form asked for the standard details and let us opt into either the sports or the casino welcome offer at sign-up, or decline a bonus altogether. The whole process took a couple of minutes.

Deposit. We funded the account with cryptocurrency, since Melbet charges no commission on crypto. The top-up (Receipt No. 22266753669, amount 32.97 GHS, 25/06/2026 15:44) credited quickly. We also ran a smaller e-wallet top-up to confirm a second deposit route worked, and it credited without issue. Minimum deposits are low, from GHS 6 by e-wallet, GHS 10 by mobile money and GHS 63 by payment systems, up to a GHS 30,000 ceiling.

Withdrawal (the real test). This is where casinos are separated from the rest, so we want to be precise about what we can and cannot claim. After playing, we requested a crypto withdrawal of 35.12 GHS at 16:05 (Request No. 4984761765), and the platform accepted it without friction, no extra verification wall and no held balance. That is a meaningful result on its own: plenty of casinos block at exactly this step, and one other on our site did.

What we did not document is the payout landing. We have the request confirmation, not a timed on-chain receipt, so we are not going to publish a payout speed for Melbet the way we did for our top pick. Crypto is designed to be the fastest rail here and there is no reason to expect a problem, but that is an expectation, not a measurement. This is not a small caveat buried in prose either: it is why the payout category scores 3.7 out of 5 rather than the high fours, and why we corrected that number downward after reviewing our own evidence. We will update this section once we have run a fully timed cashout. We also did not test a mobile-money withdrawal, which is subject to the operator’s own review checks and can be slower. Customer support. We opened the live chat to see how quickly a real person would respond. We were connected to an agent (Amy), but she was assisting other customers and estimated around 15 minutes before she could fully help. She was polite, and the chat was available, but that is a slow response compared with the best operators we have tested, and by some distance the slowest we have recorded: every other casino on this site answered within one to three minutes. Support quality can vary with the time of day; at peak times, expect a wait.

Is Melbet Ghana legal and safe?

Melbet accepts players from Ghana, supports the cedi and local mobile money, but it is important to be precise about its licence. Melbet operates as Pelican Entertainment B.V., a company registered in Curacao (company number 134359), under a licence from the Curacao Gaming Control Board (licence number OGL/2024/561/0554, granted 15 November 2024). Payment processing runs through Edric Ltd and Faren Ltd, both registered in Nicosia, Cyprus. In plain terms, this is a valid international, offshore licence, not a local Gaming Commission of Ghana licence. That is a meaningful difference from a locally regulated operator: a Ghanaian player should understand that any dispute would fall under Curacao’s framework rather than Ghana’s own regulator. A Curacao licence is recognised and used by many established brands, and Melbet has operated since 2015, so it is not a fly-by-night site, but we factor the offshore status into our safety score. What the offshore licence means in practice. This is worth being blunt about. A Curacao licence has historically offered players a lighter form of protection than a strong local or European regulator: if you have a dispute the operator will not resolve, your main route is the licensing body itself rather than an independent local ombudsman, and outcomes can be slow and inconsistent. melbetghana.com is the Ghana-facing domain, and it is the one we tested and the one Google’s Core Web Vitals data below refers to. Melbet also runs country domains and mirrors for other markets, which is where confusion starts.

Two checks are worth thirty seconds before you deposit anywhere carrying this brand. First, scroll to the footer and confirm it names Pelican Entertainment B.V. and shows licence OGL/2024/561/0554. Those exact details are what make the site the licensed operator rather than a lookalike. Second, if you are installing an app, take it from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, which is a genuine advantage Melbet has over rivals that only offer a side-loaded APK: an app-store listing is much harder to fake than a download link.

Be wary of any page offering a Melbet APK from a forwarded link, an aggregator or a search advert. Melbet does not need you to side-load anything, so a site pushing an APK is a signal in itself.

Welcome bonuses

Melbet lets you choose one welcome offer at registration, sports or casino, and you cannot claim both on the same first deposit.

Sports welcome bonus. A 200% match on your first deposit, worth up to GHS 3,100. As Melbet’s own example puts it, a deposit of GHS 1,550 multiplied by 200% gives the full GHS 3,100 bonus. Melbet does not publish a headline game count and we have not counted one ourselves, so unlike some sites we will not put a number on it here. That honesty has a cost in our scoring, and it should: this category sits a little below the brands where we counted the lobby ourselves. What we can describe is the range, which covers:

Speed and performance

Speed matters every time you place a live bet or spin a reel, so we tested it two ways: hands-on during our session, and against Google’s real-user data.

In everyday use on our mid-range Android over 4G, the Melbet app felt usable once open, and crypto deposits moved quickly. But the underlying site tells a harsher story.

For an objective benchmark we ran melbetghana.com through Google PageSpeed Insights, which reports real Chrome-user data (Core Web Vitals). The result is a clear fail, and it is Melbet’s single biggest weakness:

An 11-second Largest Contentful Paint means the main content is very slow to appear, and a Cumulative Layout Shift of 1.42 means elements jump around badly as the page loads, which is genuinely frustrating on a weaker connection. This is materially worse than the best sites we have tested in Ghana, it is measured field data rather than an impression, and it is the main reason the mobile category scores 3.4 despite Melbet having proper app-store apps. The app is more responsive than these field numbers suggest, but the data is the data, and we report it honestly.

Mobile app and usability

Most betting in Ghana happens on a phone, so we reviewed Melbet the way you actually use it. Here Melbet has a real advantage over some rivals: it offers native Android and iOS apps available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, not just a side-loaded APK, alongside a full mobile browser version. That matters for safety as much as convenience, since an app-store listing is far harder for a clone to imitate than a download link.
