Melbet Ghana Review (2026): Is It Legit, Safe and Fast?
Melbet Ghana is a sports betting and casino brand that accepts Ghanaian players, supports the cedi and local mobile money, and has operated since 2015. It is run by Pelican Entertainment B.V. under a Curacao Gaming Control Board licence, which is a valid international licence but, importantly, not a local Gaming Commission of Ghana licence. In our hands-on test we made a real crypto deposit, played, and submitted a crypto withdrawal request, and the platform supports MTN, Telecel and Airtel mobile money plus crypto with no commission. It carried a large game library from major providers at the time of our review, offers a 200% sports welcome bonus up to GHS 3,100 and a casino package up to GHS 23,500 + 290 free spins, and has native Android and iOS apps on the Play Store and App Store. Its weak spots are serious, though: the site fails Google Core Web Vitals badly (an 11-second load in Google’s data), live support was slow in our test, and the offshore licence sits below a locally regulated operator. For a player who wants crypto payments and real app-store apps, Melbet is a capable choice, but it is not the safest or the fastest option in Ghana.

Our hands-on test: what actually happened
We do not rate a casino we have not used ourselves, so before scoring Melbet we opened a real account, funded it with crypto, played, and requested a payout with our own money on a mid-range Android phone over a normal mobile data connection. For how the same hands-on test went on our top-rated brand, see our 1xBet Ghana review.
Registration. Melbet gives you four ways to sign up: by phone, one-click, by email, or through a social network (X, Telegram or Apple ID). We used the email flow and set the country to Ghana and the currency to the cedi (GHS). The form asked for the standard details and let us opt into either the sports or the casino welcome offer at sign-up, or decline a bonus altogether. The whole process took a couple of minutes.
Deposit. We funded the account with cryptocurrency, since Melbet charges no commission on crypto. The top-up (Receipt No. 22266753669, amount 32.97 GHS, 25/06/2026 15:44) credited quickly. We also ran a smaller e-wallet top-up (Receipt No. 22250566991, 16.80 GHS, 24/06/2026 18:21) to confirm a second deposit route worked. Minimum deposits are low, from GHS 6 by e-wallet, GHS 10 by mobile money and GHS 63 by payment systems, up to a GHS 30,000 ceiling.
Withdrawal (the real test). This is where casinos are separated from the rest. After playing, we requested a crypto withdrawal of 35.12 GHS at 16:05 (Request No. 4984761765), which the platform accepted without friction. Crypto is designed to be the fastest way to get paid here, and it is the single strongest thing about the platform on paper. In fairness, we tested the crypto rail specifically; we did not time a mobile-money withdrawal, and payouts to MTN, Telecel or Airtel can be slower and are subject to the operator’s review checks. If you plan to cash out to mobile money rather than crypto, treat crypto’s speed as the best case, not the guaranteed one. For the casinos where we timed the quickest payouts ourselves, see our ranking of the fast payout casinos in Ghana.
Customer support. We opened the live chat to see how quickly a real person would respond. We were connected to an agent (Amy), but she was assisting other customers and estimated around 15 minutes before she could fully help. She was polite, and the chat was available, but that is a slow response compared with the best operators we have tested. Support quality can vary with the time of day; at peak times, expect a wait.
Is Melbet Ghana legal and safe?
Melbet accepts players from Ghana, supports the cedi and local mobile money, but it is important to be precise about its licence. Melbet operates as Pelican Entertainment B.V., a company registered in Curacao (company number 134359), under a licence from the Curacao Gaming Control Board (licence number OGL/2024/561/0554, granted 15 November 2024). Payment processing runs through Edric Ltd and Faren Ltd, both registered in Nicosia, Cyprus. In plain terms, this is a valid international, offshore licence, not a local Gaming Commission of Ghana licence. That is a meaningful difference from a locally regulated operator: a Ghanaian player should understand that any dispute would fall under Curacao’s framework rather than Ghana’s own regulator. A Curacao licence is recognised and used by many established brands, and Melbet has operated since 2015, so it is not a fly-by-night site, but we factor the offshore status into our safety score. The site uses SSL encryption and offers responsible-gambling controls, and the legal minimum age to gamble is 18.
What the offshore licence means in practice. This is worth being blunt about. A Curacao licence has historically offered players a lighter form of protection than a strong local or European regulator: if you have a dispute the operator will not resolve, your main route is the licensing body itself rather than an independent local ombudsman, and outcomes can be slow and inconsistent. For most players who deposit sensibly, play, and withdraw without issue, this never comes up, and Melbet accepted our deposit and withdrawal request without any friction. But it does mean the safety net is thinner than with a locally licensed operator, so it is sensible to keep stakes reasonable, screenshot your own transactions, and read the bonus terms before you claim. This is the single biggest reason Melbet scores below a Ghana-licensed brand on safety, however well it performs elsewhere.
Welcome bonuses
Melbet lets you choose one welcome offer at registration, sports or casino, and you cannot claim both on the same first deposit.
Sports welcome bonus. A 200% match on your first deposit, worth up to GHS 3,100. As Melbet’s own example puts it, a deposit of GHS 1,550 multiplied by 200% gives the full GHS 3,100 bonus. The wagering requirement is a relatively friendly x8, which is one of the easier sports bonuses to clear that we have seen.
Casino welcome package. Up to GHS 23,500 + 290 free spins, spread across your first five deposits:
| Deposit | Bonus | Free spins |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | 50% (up to GHS 4,700) | 30 FS |
| 2nd | 75% (up to GHS 4,700) | 40 FS |
| 3rd | 100% (up to GHS 4,700) | 50 FS |
| 4th | 150% (up to GHS 4,700) | 70 FS |
| 5th | 200% (up to GHS 4,700) | 100 FS |
The minimum deposit to trigger the casino bonus is GHS 135, and all free spins are credited on a single slot, Juicy Fruits Sunshine Rich by Barbara Bang. Be honest with yourself about the terms here: the casino package carries a x40 wagering requirement, which is demanding, and locking the free spins to one game limits your choice. The sports bonus at x8 is far easier to clear than the casino one at x40, so pick the offer that matches how you actually play. Casino and games
At the time of our review (June 2026), Melbet offered a large library for Ghanaian players, spanning major studios. We recheck these figures at each update. The range covers:
- Slots from major studios, classic and modern video slots
- Crash and fast games, including Aviator-style titles you can cash out mid-round
- Live-dealer tables, roulette, blackjack, baccarat and game shows streamed in real time
- Table games and more, poker, bingo, virtual sports, TV games, plus hunting-and-fishing games
The crash and fast-casino section is a highlight, with the familiar multiplier-and-cash-out format that has become popular across the region. It is a smaller catalogue than the very largest sites in Ghana, but there is still more than enough for most players. For a dedicated look at the strongest slot libraries in the country, see our guide to the best slots sites in Ghana.
Sportsbook
Melbet is a sportsbook first, and it shows. Football leads, from the English Premier League and Champions League to African and Ghanaian competitions, with deep markets on match result, over/under, both teams to score, correct score and player props. Beyond football you get basketball, tennis, boxing, a large esports menu and virtual sports, plus extensive live, in-play betting with odds that update in real time and match streaming for logged-in users. The bet slip and cash-out tools are quick to use once you know the layout.
Payments: mobile money and crypto
For most Ghanaian players mobile money is the default, and Melbet supports all three networks, plus e-wallets, a card option and crypto.
| Method | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MTN Mobile Money | Mobile money | Largest network; min deposit GHS 10 |
| Telecel Cash | Mobile money | Supported |
| Airtel Money | Mobile money | Supported |
| Crypto (Tether, and others) | Crypto | No commission |
| WebMoney, Piastrix, MiFinity, BybitPay | E-wallet | Min deposit GHS 6 |
| Neteller | Payment system | Min deposit GHS 63 |
| Visa, AstroPay | Card / e-wallet | For withdrawals and deposits |
Deposits are near-instant across most methods, and money moves both ways on the same rails, so you are not forced to deposit by mobile money and then wait for a bank-only withdrawal. Crypto is the standout: no commission and, on paper, the fastest payouts. If you want a casino built entirely around crypto, our Wild.io review covers a crypto-only option. Minimum deposits run from GHS 6 to GHS 63 depending on the method, with a GHS 30,000 maximum.
Speed and performance
Speed matters every time you place a live bet or spin a reel, so we tested it two ways: hands-on during our session, and against Google’s real-user data.
In everyday use on our mid-range Android over 4G, the Melbet app felt usable once open, and crypto deposits moved quickly. But the underlying site tells a harsher story.
For an objective benchmark we ran melbetghana.com through Google PageSpeed Insights, which reports real Chrome-user data (Core Web Vitals). The result is a clear fail, and it is Melbet’s single biggest weakness:
| Metric (mobile) | Result | Google target |
|---|---|---|
| Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) | 11 s | under 2.5 s |
| Interaction to Next Paint (INP) | 489 ms | under 200 ms |
| Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) | 1.42 | under 0.1 |
| First Contentful Paint (FCP) | 5.5 s | under 1.8 s |
| Time to First Byte (TTFB) | 0.9 s | under 0.8 s |
melbetghana.com fails Google’s Core Web Vitals assessment on mobile, and by a wide margin. An 11-second Largest Contentful Paint means the main content is very slow to appear, and a Cumulative Layout Shift of 1.42 means elements jump around badly as the page loads, which is genuinely frustrating on a weaker connection. This is materially worse than the best sites we have tested in Ghana, and it is the main reason Melbet sits behind our top pick despite a strong payments and games offering. The app is more responsive than these field numbers suggest, but the data is the data, and we report it honestly.
Mobile app and usability
Most betting in Ghana happens on a phone, so we reviewed Melbet the way you actually use it. Here Melbet has a real advantage over some rivals: it offers native Android and iOS apps available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, not just a side-loaded APK, alongside a full mobile browser version. The interface is dense, packing sports, casino, crash games and the cashier into one app, so there is a short learning curve, but once you know it, everything is a tap or two away. The main frustration is not the layout but the load speed covered above.
Customer support
Melbet offers support through live chat and a help centre. In our test we were connected to a live agent, but at a busy time she estimated around 15 minutes before she could fully assist. The agent was polite and the chat works, but that response time is slower than the best operators in the market, so it is a genuine weak point rather than a strength.
How to register at Melbet Ghana (step by step)

Responsible gambling
Betting should stay fun. Melbet offers responsible-gambling controls, and we only recommend playing what you can afford to lose. Final verdict: 4.4/5
Melbet earns a solid score the honest way. A real crypto deposit, a withdrawal request accepted without friction, native Android and iOS apps on the official app stores, a large game library and full mobile-money support make it a genuinely capable platform, and it has operated since 2015.
But we would not want to oversell it. Melbet is licensed offshore in Curacao rather than by the Gaming Commission of Ghana, its site fails Google’s Core Web Vitals badly (an 11-second load in Google’s own data), the casino bonus wagering is a steep x40, and live support was slow when we tested it.
Who it is for: players who deposit and withdraw in crypto and want proper app-store apps. Who should look elsewhere: anyone who wants a locally licensed operator, a fast-loading site, or quick live support. To be specific about the gap, our top pick, 1xBet Ghana, holds a local Gaming Commission of Ghana licence rather than an offshore Curacao one, loads far faster in Google’s data (a 3.7-second LCP against Melbet’s 11 seconds), and answered our live chat in one to two minutes rather than an estimated fifteen. Melbet wins on native app-store apps and is a genuinely capable platform, but on the three things that decide trust and day-to-day experience, licence, speed and support, 1xBet is the stronger all-round option.
