About Best Casinos Africa
BestCasinosAfrica.com is an independent casino and sports betting review platform for players in Ghana, built on hands-on testing with real money and the payment methods Ghanaians actually use.
Our story
We were founded in 2026 by Alex Mensah and Matia Cassuto, two iGaming professionals with over 18 years of combined experience on the operator side.
Alex started his career 11 years ago in customer support, later becoming Support Team Lead and moving into affiliate management. For a decade he worked on the brand side, negotiating partnerships, managing affiliate traffic, closing deals and monitoring performance, finishing as Head of Affiliates for one of the leading international brands. Throughout, he worked exclusively with fully licensed operators.
Matia began in customer support and quickly advanced to VIP Account Manager, then Team Lead of the VIP department from 2022 to 2026, building relationships with high-value players, arranging fast payouts and upholding responsible gambling standards.
We met at an iGaming conference in Malta and decided it was time to use what we had learned to help players directly. That is why we created BestCasinosAfrica.com.
Why we built this for Ghana
After years working for casino brands, we kept seeing the same thing: review sites that had never opened an account from Ghana, never sent a cedi through MTN Mobile Money, and had no idea which brands actually pay out to a Ghanaian phone number. They ranked casinos on bonus size and called it a review.
Ghana is a specific market and it does not behave like the ones those sites are built for. Most gambling money moves through Mobile Money rather than cards. A licence from the Gaming Commission of Ghana means something different from a licence bought offshore. Withdrawal minimums that look trivial in dollars are not trivial in cedis. So we built one platform that answers those questions properly rather than three that answer none of them, and everything on it is written for players in Ghana.
How we test
We do not rely only on our own experience. We work with a dedicated local tester who uses each casino under real conditions, on a mid-range Android phone over mobile data, which is how most players in Ghana actually gamble.
- Kennedy Oni – Ghana-based tester, MTN Mobile Money and Telecel Cash
He creates a real account, deposits real money through MTN Mobile Money, Telecel Cash or AirtelTigo Money, plays, then requests a withdrawal and times it. Along the way he checks how the site behaves on a phone, contacts live support to see whether a human answers, reads the bonus terms in full, and documents every step with screenshots. Where a brand is crypto-only, the same process runs on USDT instead of cedis.
Licences are checked separately and against the source rather than the casino’s own marketing. For any brand claiming to be licensed in Ghana, that means the Gaming Commission of Ghana register, which is the only thing we treat as proof of a local licence.

What we have actually documented
A testing process is easy to describe and harder to show, so here is where it has got to.
We currently rank seven brands, each scored on the same seven weighted categories, with the weights printed on every review so you can check the arithmetic rather than trust the headline. Payments for Ghana carries the most weight, because a casino you cannot fund from your phone in cedis is not a real option here however good it looks otherwise.
Payout is the category we are strictest about. We record five different outcomes for a withdrawal test, ranging from a fully documented payout with timestamps down to one that was never submitted at all, and each review states plainly which one applies. Where we could not complete a payout ourselves, that category is not scored and its weight is removed from the total rather than filled with an estimate. Three of the seven brands currently sit in that position, and their reviews say so in the rating table, in the summary and in the verdict.
Where a payout did complete, we publish the times. Our 1xBet review documents a withdrawal received in about ten minutes, with the request time, the receipt time and the screenshots behind it.
The findings that matter most tend to be the uncomfortable ones. Our Wild.io review documents frozen accounts, voided winnings after bonus play and two different companies named as the operator on the brand’s own site, and Wild.io is a commercial partner of ours. That is the test of whether any of this is worth reading. You can see all of it on our casino reviews page.
What we promise
- We state each casino’s licence clearly, including when there is none. Two of the brands we currently rank cannot show us a gambling licence we are able to verify, and we say so on their reviews and in their scores.
- Real-money testing with local payment methods, or with crypto where a brand takes nothing else.
- Where a test could not be completed, we say so instead of filling the gap from another site’s review.
- Mobile first, because that is how Ghana plays.
- When we get something wrong, we correct it and say what changed.
- A real commitment to responsible gambling, including telling you where the protections stop.
Responsible gambling
Gambling should stay fun, never a way to make money or escape problems, and you must be 18 or over to play. If it stops being fun, set deposit and time limits, take a break, or use self-exclusion. For free, confidential help from anywhere, visit Gambling Therapy. Our own responsible gambling page covers what protection you actually have at the casinos we review, which at offshore brands is less than most players assume.
How we make money
We are an independent affiliate platform. If you register or deposit through some of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
That never changes a score or a verdict. Two of the seven brands we rank have no affiliate relationship with us at all, and one of them, Cryptorino, is scored and ranked exactly like the rest. The brands that do pay us are also the ones carrying our hardest criticisms, because the findings were written before the partnerships existed and have not been softened since.
What a partnership does affect is buttons. A brand we have no agreement with carries no sign-up link, because we cannot link to a programme we are not in. Every commercial link on this site is marked as one and opens in a new tab. Full details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
