Pros and cons

Our test from Ghana

We set up a real account in cedis in October 2026, went through registration, read the cashier and bonus pages, opened the lobby and Aviator, tested live chat and read the policies end to end.

Registration. Five steps: a mobile number and password first, then name, country, currency, email, an optional promo code and an SMS code. The dial code defaults to +254, so switch it to Ghana's +233 before typing your number. No ID was asked.

Cashier. MTN, AirtelTigo and Vodafone, as the cashier still labels AT and Telecel, from 15 GHS to 25,000 GHS. No crypto. For a player whose money sits in a mobile money wallet, this is the part that works. A deposit does not become withdrawable until it has been played, as the balance panel shows.

Gameplay. Aviator opened from the same account with both bet panels at 0.50 GHS; the round we watched had over two thousand bets and nothing stalled on a phone connection.

Withdrawal. Completed, not captured. We withdrew from this account but took no screenshot of the request or the payout, so we hold no documented payout and do not score one. Support. An agent introducing himself as Andrew replied about a minute after our first message: 14:05 sent, 14:06 answered. No bot queue.

Is CaptainsBet licensed and legit?

Short answer: its footer licence is real and on the Curacao register under the same company, but with the status Assessment in progress, and its own Terms say the licence is still being applied for. It holds no Ghanaian licence.

Using CaptainsBet is not a crime in Ghana, because the Gaming Act targets operators, but with no Gaming Commission licence there is no desk in Accra if a withdrawal stalls; our guide to online gambling law in Ghana explains why the licence type matters. The footer says captainsbet.com is owned and operated by Optim Development B.V., registered in Curacao under number 154511 at Abraham Mendez Chumaceiro Boulevard 03, licensed by the Curacao Gaming Control Board under OGL/2024/225/0601, with Amariner Limited of Limassol, Cyprus, as payment agent.

What the register shows. The Curacao register dated 2 October 2026 lists OGL/2024/225/0601 under Optim Development B.V., company 154511, B2C, issued 16 July 2025 with a term to 16 January 2026, status Assessment in progress. Under the Curacao Gaming Authority's December 2025 notice, that status keeps a licence in force until the authority rules. The register lists no domains, so it confirms the company and the number, not the site.

What the Terms say. Clause 1 names the same company and says it is "currently in application" for a licence. A footer stating a licence and a legal document saying it is still being applied for do not fully agree; the register's assessment status sits between them. We report all three. The published AML policy refuses players from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, the Netherlands and the Dutch overseas territories; Ghana is not on the list. CaptainsBet welcome bonuses

Short answer: pick one: a 100% sports bonus up to 1,350 GHS with x5 wagering, or 30 free spins on Lion Gems with x100 the value of one spin. Both expire in three days.

The casino wager is a multiple of one spin's value, which the page never states, so you cannot turn x100 into cedis before accepting. The sports bonus covers football, tennis, basketball, volleyball, golf and cricket only, and the odds rule is printed as a minimum per selection running from 1.5 to 10, which we read as a band. General rules: no jackpot games with bonus money, opposite-outcome bets do not count, a bonus is cancelled below the equivalent of 0.05 US dollars, extra deposits to meet wagering are not allowed, and deposit plus bonus stay locked until the wagering is done or you cancel. Deposits and withdrawals by MoMo

Short answer: yes, CaptainsBet takes mobile money in cedis from 15 GHS, and withdrawals go back to the same method, winnings only.

Withdrawal requests are processed within 24 business hours and reach you in 1 to 5 working days. The company can cap withdrawals at 20,000 US dollars a month. No per-withdrawal minimum or fee is stated in the documents we read. Only winnings can be withdrawn, back to the deposit method, and your profile must be complete first. The 40% withdrawal clause

Short answer: if your bets since your last deposit total less than twice that deposit, CaptainsBet may keep up to 40% of the payout. Play through twice your last deposit before withdrawing.

The policy says the deduction covers transfer and game provider costs. It is discretionary, not a fixed fee, but on a 500 GHS withdrawal that is up to 200 GHS, and it is the main reason this brand does not score higher on safety.

Verification: documents before any withdrawal

Nothing was asked at registration. The AML and KYC policy can then ask for a government photo ID, proof of address from the last six months, a copy of the card used (middle eight digits covered), source of funds in some cases and a selfie with the ID or notarised copies. Documents are due within 48 hours, the Terms allow up to 72 hours for checks, transactions above 1,000 euro may need extra confirmation, and all checks must be complete before a withdrawal is approved. Casino, sportsbook and Aviator

CaptainsBet states 8,700+ games from 50+ providers across sports, casino, live casino, esports, bingo, poker, virtuals, TV games, scratch cards and Aviator; we did not count the lobby, so these are operator figures. The sportsbook rules describe Quick Bet, Autobet, Bet Builder (2 to 16 outcomes from one football, basketball, tennis or baseball match) and Initial Return. We found no Cash Out in the rules. Bets on already-known or postponed events settle at 1.00, and settlement claims must come within 10 days.
